SAVE THE DATE!

8th Annual Workday

Saturday, May 14, 2011

Once a year, thousands of volunteers mobilize during ShareFest's Workday. They take ownership of their community and give their time and efforts to heal and improve the neighborhoods around them.

In 2010 more than 5,000 volunteers mobilized on May 1 as part of ShareFest's Seventh Annual Workday.

Volunteers from the South Bay and Harbor areas lead and completed 335 projects, whether they were building a community center in Harbor Gateway to provide a haven for the local children, providing free washes and a caring ear at laundromats, or beautifying schools throughout the area.

In recent Workdays, ShareFest has worked closely with its array of partners -- for instance, Big Sunday and the Mayor's Day of Service -- to be part of a team that completed thousands or projects throughout the greater Los Angeles Area and saved the community millions of dollars.

To date, ShareFest has helped build healthy communities with more than 900 projects and has continually raised up leaders and built relationships between stakeholders to create a cohesive, caring community.

Work sites included: Schools, community agencies/non-profits and seniors private residences in Los Angeles County. Local cities including Carson, Compton, El Segundo, Gardena, Harbor City, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Lomita, Los Angeles, Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, San Pedro, South Gate, Torrance and Westchester.

If you know of a need in your area or want to lend your time and talent to improve the community, please contact us by emailing workday@sharefestinc.org.
