My heart grows heavy to even think that we are now ending our third week of camp, but knowing how far all of our relationships have come fills me with joy.
Yesterday, our activity (aside from the pool, of course) was playing capture the flag and ultimate frisbee. As the campers ran back and forth with lightning speed to try and win the game, I thought about the growth that has occurred at Sharefest Summer YDA. Counselors, junior counselors, and campers all laugh and work together during every activity that we participate in.
During pool time each day, at least five campers come to me asking for help with their diving techniques. It warms my heart to see other kids that I had previously taught giving tips and teaching others how to swim. There is so much of an advancement in all the of the students with their swimming skills. Many came in not knowing how to swim at all and now they are in the deep end, doing the backstroke and teaching others how to do the same.
It is an honor to work and grow along side these future leaders and the personal, artist and creative development, along with the atheletic opportunities, is transformating this campers into future leaders in their communities.
