About Us
Overview
ShareFest Community Development is an organization dedicated to creating lasting change in underserved neighborhoods and cities, serving residents and creating lasting partnerships and communities of care.
ShareFest exists to bring together churches, community based organizations, businesses, local government and residents to meet needs and foster hope and unity within the greater Los Angeles area.
To do this, ShareFest uses its annual communitywide workday and its Youth Development Academy with California State University Dominguez Hills.
Annually, ShareFest organizes volunteers from all sectors to join together and improve the quality of life for local residents. Working with cities, school districts, churches and charities ShareFest targets areas of need and then meet those needs at no cost to the recipient.
Since its inception in 2004 ShareFest has completed more than 300 projects.
In 2008 ShareFest took on 179 projects, many of them in neighborhoods like Wilmington and Harbor Gateway where ShareFest partnered with L.A. City to bring relief and hope to areas that had recently been shocked by gang violence.
ShareFest’s Youth Development Academy is focused on taking children from underserved environments where gangs and drugs abound and teaching them to be leaders for change in their communities.
ShareFest’s overall attitude of empowering residents, making lasting change and caring for children and families is embodied in these main services they provide.
There are many avenues for you to support ShareFest’s work or become a partner in it.
